Federal agents at observation posts watch a silent matte-black triangle rise, hover and dive into a canyon

An AARO memorandum of a joint witness debrief says that one evening in 2026, at 20:23 local time, an agent at a secondary observation post picked up an elevated object on long-range thermal equipment, and two federal law enforcement agents at the main post moved to watch it. They describe a matte-black, featureless triangle with an estimated 13- to 15-foot wingspan and 1 to 2 feet thick, between 1.4 and 3.2 miles away, rising vertically over a ridge for about ten seconds to 200-300 feet, hovering for about twenty seconds, then banking into a fast, terrain-hugging descent into a canyon in two to three seconds. It made no sound, and on a handheld thermal device it showed a uniform heat signature with no exhaust. A ground survey the next morning found nothing. The two agents' co-signed FBI statement describes the same sighting and compares the object to a delta-wing drone.

Why it matters (3/5)
A multi-witness law-enforcement sighting with thermal observation that AARO formally debriefed.
Caveats
AARO notes that the report reflects the witnesses' interpretation at the time and is not a conclusive description of the object. No speed was measured instrumentally. The date and place are redacted, so the map pin marks AARO, not the site. Another FBI statement, from an agent at an observation area, describes a thermal object seen the night after an earlier sighting, sized at about half a Black Hawk helicopter; whether it relates to this event is not stated.
