An Indiana couple's report of two ring-shaped objects reaches Air Force intelligence
December 1953 · Seymour, Indiana · Sighting · Primary document linked
A UFOB report of 13 January 1954 from the Air Force reserve training center at Atterbury AFB says a Seymour druggist and his wife, driving east at dusk one evening in mid-December 1953, saw two large white, cloudy rings flying in staggered formation like two jets. Each had four bright points of light rotating slowly clockwise, with a bluish-white vapor trail. The objects tilted down, hovered with complete stability, then took off upward to the southwest at 'incredible speed'. They heard no sound, even after getting out of the car. They watched for five or six minutes in all. The couple had told only three friends, to avoid ridicule.

Why it matters (2/5)
A civilian report filed with Air Force intelligence; no evaluation or wider attention.
Caveats
The couple could not remember the exact date, so air traffic could not be checked; weather for the whole week of 8-15 December is given instead. There was no physical evidence and no evaluation in the file.
